Aqua Mulchers & Hydroseeders

Benefits of our Aqua Mulchers

What kind of coverage should I expect per tank load?

The Aqua Mulcher comes in 500, 800, and 1200 gallon sizes. You can assume 700-1,000 sq. ft. of coverage per 100 gallons of tank size for most hydroseeding jobs. (Aqua Mulcher 500: 3,500 – 5,000 sq. ft. Aqua Mulcher 800: 5,600 – 8,000 sq. ft. Aqua Mulcher 1200: 8,400 – 12,000 sq. ft.) Thickness of mulch slurry and job requirements can better determine sq. ft. coverage.

Paddle Agitation vs. Jet Agitation?

Paddle Agitation is crucial for fast mixing times and the ability to mix thick slurries easily. Jet agitation results in long mixing times and a reduction in mulch capacity per tank load. Clogging is greatly increased with jet agitation, both during mixing and spraying. Paddle agitation provides fast mixing and a consistent slurry mixture in suspension.

Do I need a recirculation or by-pass line?

Spraying an aqua mulcherNo. By-pass and recirculation lines are among the primary causes of clogging during hydroseeding. By-pass lines are among the most common ‘clogging points’ when hydroseeding with wood and wood/paper blends. The Aqua Mulcher provides the hydroseeding professional with a straight forward design, alleviating clogging issues and eliminating any unnecessary ‘clogging points’.

What types of fertilizer will go through the pump?

All brands of commercial granular or liquid fertilizers can be used.

How much will a hydroseed job cost?

Material costs vary between regions and climates. Typically, material costs are around $.01-$.04 per sq. ft. however these costs are continually increasing and should be taken into consideration when pricing a job.

What should I charge to hydroseed a lawn?

Hydroseeding is sold at different prices within different regions. Typical prices are $.10 - $.15 per sq. ft. Please research locally and compare the quality of hydroseeding work with materials used.

What are the common causes for clogging?

Clogging can occur for many reasons, the most common clogs occur at the spray nozzles. When a clog occurs, the best method is to stop the pump immediately and check each clog point and work back towards the machine. Check the nozzle and clear it of any obstructions. Check all hose fittings and valves and clear them of any obstructions. The Aqua Mulcher allows the user to easily access all potential clogging points to reduce downtime to a minimum.

Do I need a hose reel?

Not really. We have found 1 ¼” poly-braid hose to be the lightest and easiest hose to work with. Hose reels are available through TGMI, Inc. Straight plumbing and elimination of clogging points is important to pumping thick mulch slurries. It is important that if a live hose reel is used, potential clogging issues are increased and your mulch quantity per tank load may need to be reduced up to 25%.

What is the advantage of independent hydraulic drives for the agitator and pump?

The Aqua Mulcher features hydraulic driven paddle agitation and pumping. Tandem hydraulic pumps allow for optimum hydraulic pressure to both agitation as well as pumping without experiencing a pressure drop when running both pump and agitator at the same time. Hydraulic drive allows for quiet, smooth operation of both the pump and paddle agitator. Forward and reverse capabilities allow for smooth consistent mixtures as well as the ability to back up the pump if a clog occurs.
